We did that “quick detour” to France just to visit Disneyland. My sister had not seen it and it also was the 25th anniversary of the park, so we thought it was the perfect time to visit it. As for me, I visited Disneyland when I was little (over 10 years ago) so I didn’t quite remember it but Disney always brings joy and happiness in my soul as it is my childhood as it is to many people. If I’m now considered an adult that doesn’t not mean that I’m not still a child at soul and cannot let my imagination free.
From the parking lot, where I could hear Disney songs, I got excited and a wave of nostalgia came over me.
After getting pass the security check and walking a bit I was eager to see the castle because for me that’s where the real magic begins.
After going on a few of the rides, which you find right next to the entrance, like for example Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Travels of Pinocchio and Peter Pan’s Flight, we arrived at Alice’s Curious Labyrinth, which is one of my favorite experience from Disneyland as the music is just funny and how everything is built made me giggle and be happy.
There were a lot of statues representing the characters from the movie, which you could find while you were wondering through the labyrinth.
The labyrinth was just full of color and things to look at, such as the Caterpillar, who helps out Alice in her adventures.
Sadly, I haven’t seen a Cheshire Cat statue (that would have been amazing) but I did found this funny sign with him.
Then we found the The Playing Cards, who were just hanging around.
Oh, I almost forgot! After getting out of Alice’s labyrinth we went on the Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups ride, which is just as fun as I remembered it. You ride in a tea cup and have a steering wheel, which you can turn it so your cup turns as well. We had a blast just powering that wheel and getting a bit dizzy.
Afterwards we went next to see the beautiful It’s a small world ride. This is what is looks like from the outside.
You hop on a boat and cruise around the world. There are many cultures and countries depicted an the level of detail was just insane. The puppets, props and just how the environment was built was amazing. Let’s not forget that adorable and happy song.
Moving on, of course, we had to get ourselves glazed apples and these were the 25th anniversary edition. They were nicely decorated and they tasted so good.
Next up we have Adventureland where we went to see The Home of Robinson.
The house was pretty high up in a tree and as I “really love” heights (I just don’t) the climb and the descent were quite a thrill for me… but it was a nice thing to see.
Then we hanged around a bit more in the Adventure Isle, which is a place where you discover secret coves and pirate hideouts.
My sister managed to convince me to hop on a roller coaster, specifically on Big Thunder Mountain, which from the outside didn’t appear so frightening, so I said why not give it a try. It was amazing and that adrenaline kicked in. The ride didn’t have those horrifying drops from amazing heights or loopings but what it did have were inclined turns and it had breathtaking speed which made the experience so amazing. Oh and that drop at the end in complete darkness was so thrilling. I would go on that ride again but the waiting line is just too long…
At 17.30 (5.30 PM) the Disney Stars on Parade began and as always it was spectacular.
As we were wandering through the park I got to see Peter Pan and said Hi to him but I am so sad I didn’t manage to get a picture with him but here he is just being awesome on his ship.
They had this year this amazing dragon, which had a real flamethrower. You could actually feel the heat coming from it.
We decided to stay ’til the end, when the park closed, because at 22.00 (10.00 PM) would be the Disney Illuminations show and we couldn’t miss it. In the meantime we visited the rest of the park. We got to see Captain Nemo’s submarine, we drove 1950s car of the future at the Autopia ride and then just wandered around at the shops.
The Disney Illuminations shows was amazingly done with the special effects, fireworks, flamethrowers, video projectors and everything but what I really want to say is that it was a touching, nostalgic and emotional experience. I grew up with Disney movies by my side so seeing this show was touching my soul and my inner child. That’s why I didn’t record it because I just wanted to enjoy the moment and the emotions I was feeling.
Disneyland will always be one of my happy places, which will always brings joy to my soul and will remind me that it’s ok to be a dreamer, to let your inner child and imagination free. Hopefully, I’ll return in the near future and experience my childhood again.
